Error opening Office 2003 documents with Office 2007

I have recently upgraded from Office 2003 Pro to Office Ultimate 2007.
Whenever I open a 2003 Word or Excel document, I get a message: “Unable to
Find Quit on the File Menu. Instant Assess Not Enabledâ€. The document
eventually opens, (15 seconds or so).

Any thoughts?

It sound like you have an add-in that is not compatible with 2007, you can
look at the list of add-ins under Excel Options... and selecting add-ins
scroll through the list and look for any strange ones. Analysis Toolpak,
Conditional Sum Wizard, Euro Currency Tools, Internet Assistant, Look-up
wizard and solver add-in are all ok...any others you can try disabling by
selecting the type from the 'manage' drop-down and then select go, disable
the items from the list and try re-booting. Once you have identified the
culprit you can uninstall it as it is obviously not compatible in it's
current form with Excel2007

Thanks very much. As it turns out, I had multiple versions of key files
(xlstart and one other) that were in conflict. Microsoft support was able to
resolve the problem.

Thanks very much for responding.
