error opening hyperlinks in outloook 2007

When I try and open a hyperlink in outlook 2007 I get an error saying the
application cannot be found.
 
That application is probably your web browser. Make sure your system has a
default browser set for it.

how do I find out?

HOW can I set Internet Explorer to be the default here? I can't seem to
find out where it is stated.
 
In Windows XP, "Set Program Access and Defaults"; If using Internet
Explorer, 'Tools|Internet Options|Programs'. On Vista, 'Control
Panel|Default Programs|Set your default programs".
