error opening control panel

I have installed win2k on my computer. I have asus p4b
motherboard. after I tried to install the motherboard
drivers, I can't open control panel. When I try, I get the
message: "explorer.exe has generatet an error and will be
closed by windows. you have to start the program again."
I did'nt install any drivers for the motherboard because
it would'nt work, I have tried to use the drivers on the
CDROM I got when I bought the motherboard and I have tried
the drivers on www.asus.com, same result!
There where no help in searching the microsoft technet...
Can anyone help me with this problem? please send me a
mail if you have any ideas what I can try to do!!!
