Error on Install

Whenever I am try to install a program, I get an error
that sais the content of this file cannot be unpacked.
The executable you are trying to run has been
corrupted...So I try another cd, or in another case,
downloaded the trial again, and it did not work. I am
running Windows XP Home SP1. I also tryied reinstalling
xp, but it did not help.

That is peculiar, to say the least. When you download a file, is the size of
the downloaded file the same as the original?
Can you attempt to download/install in Safe Mode?
