Error number: 0x8DDD0018

I'm trying to install Pinnacle Studio 9 on my computer. I completely wiped
out and started over from scratch a few weeks ago, and for some reason all
the updates are not going onto my computer. When I try and install "windows
xp service pack 1" it gives me this error code and tells me that my
auto-update, BITS, and Event log are not working correctly. Now, I really
need to install this computer and edit some video for a college project, and
I need a prompt answer/solution. Thanks to whoever gives me a hand.

microsoft.public.windowsxp newsgroups; this newsgroup is for questions
about the database software Microsoft Access, not for general computer
questions.
