The connection to the server has failed. Account: 'mail.charter.net', Server:
'127.0.0.1', Protocol: POP3, Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 10061,
Error Number: 0x800CCC0E

I have two web based e-mail accounts with hotmail & charter.
two days ago, it was working fine. Now It won't receive incoming mail from
charter, however hotmail is fine. Also, Charter will mail outgoing mail. How
do I fix this problem?

You have a security product installed (e.g. antivirus/antispam) that can
scan e-mail as it is downloaded. Try uninstalling that product or disabling
the e-mail scanning feature to see if you can receive your e-mail.

Thank you for the suggestion. I have tried that and it does not work.
Do you have any other solutions?

Open internet explorer and select Tools > Internet Options. Go to the
programs tab. There is a dropdown near the top where you can set the
default email program.

As for the rest, did you uninstall or disable the security product? Also,
if you uninstalled, double check your account settings in Microsoft Outlook
and make sure they are correct.
