Windows XP has no spyware detector that would created a
popup warning about spyware. My guess is that you either do
not have a firewall turned on or that you do have some
adware on your computer that is opening a hole in your
firewall to get ads, and you are getting the ad that is
pushing the program. It is even possible that your current
spyware program is the culprit.
Spyware programs that work, without being Trojans trying to
sell you more are available.
Get SpyBot Search & Destroy free from
www.safer-networking.org They do accept voluntary donations,
but never pester about it.
Also, Ad-Aware free from
www.lavasoftusa.com does a good
job, I run both programs and they detect well. Ad-Aware
updates more often, but SpyBot seems to detect a wider
range.
If you don't have a firewall, I like Zone Alarm because it
logs activity, controls in and outbound traffic and is also
free.
