Yesterday I accepted an automatic update from, I assume Microsoft...(system
tray, lower right, "new updates are available click here" yada, yada, yada).
This morning on boot-up I received this error msg: The procedure entry point
GetProcessImageFileNameW could not be located in the dynamic link library
PSAPI.Dll. What's up? Thanks in advance for your help.

Regards,

Ed K

Hi my3cents,

If you have updated your IE browser to IE7, then that error message may be
due to a program or programs (currently identified "culprits" include Motive
SmartBridge, Hal Screen Reader and Supernova Reader Magnifier by Dolphin)
that ship with an older version of PSAPI.DLL

Navigate to the installation location for SmartBridge (\Program
Files\Verizon...\Smart...), Dolphin Hal Screen Reader or Supernova Reader
Magnifier, locate PSAPI.DLL in the installation location and rename it to
something else, such as PSAPIOLD.DLL
Do NOT rename the PSAPI.DLL file in the Windows\System32 folder
Restart the computer
The program will find the new PSAPI.DLL in the \Windows\System32 directory
and function normally.
