Hello, wonder if anyone can help.
Recently my PC has been displaying an error message and not performing as
well as previously. I get this message, and wonder if anyone can provide a
solution?:
"Unable to initialize internal Com library. Error code: 0x800401f3"
Thank you in anticipation
Some program that you have running is failing. There is no way for people
reading your post to know which one. You need to do some Startup
troubleshooting and also see if you can answer The First Question of
Troubleshooting: what changed between the time things worked and the time
they didn't? Also pay attention to what you are doing when you get the
error to see if you can pinpoint the failing program that way. Use Task
Manager to see what's running when the error happens.
For Startup troubleshooting:
For Vista:
Start Orb>Start Search box>msconfig [enter]
If you are prompted for an administrator password or for a confirmation,
type the password, or click Continue. Then see what is on the Startup tab.
You don't need to restart immediately, but the next time you do you'll get
a dialog saying you've used the Utility. Usually in Vista this will be
blocked by Windows Defender and you'll need to allow it so you can then
tick the box that says in effect, "don't bother me about this again".
Important - Do not use the System Configuration Utility to stop processes.
Instead, use Start>Run>services.msc [enter] and do not stop any services
unless you really, really know what you're doing.
The free Autoruns program is very useful for managing your Startup -
