I'm getting these error messages and can't seem to resolve the issue...any
help is welcome
"16 bit ms-dos subsystem"
"C:\windows\system 32\rundll 32.exe"
"the NTVDM CPU has encountered an illegal instruction"
My printer won't work, music won't play, pictures that I have saved won't
open. I have always updated my Norton, and have run spybot, and even
downloaded "stinger" by McAfee and run it, but they all say I'm clean. Where
do I start next??
thanx...ktugg

In part:

Error Message: MS-DOS or 16-bit Windows-based program
http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_m.htm#16bit

This installaton program will reinstall the missing or corrupt Windows XP
system files command.com, autoexec.nt and config.nt. The absence or
corruption of one or more of these files causes a "16 Bit Subsystem" error.

Well, Kelly, I downloaded both the Xpprofiles and the xp_fix and neither did
the trick. I'm thinking that maybe I need to reinsert the XP disk and go
that route. I'm not new to computers, but fixing them is another thing. My
son who is the IT person moved to Az. on me (I'm in MI) so I'm kind of on my
own. I have to dump everything and re format, so I'm trying everything else
I can. Do I need to uninstall the two fixes I've tried? Ktugg
