error messages!

I keep getting an error message when i try to open some
software C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\AUTOEXEC.NT. tHE SYSTEM
FILE IS NOT SUITABLE FOR RUNNING MS-DOS AND MICROSOFT
WINDOWS APPLICATIONS. What can I do about this? any
hints would be helpful, cheers
