Error messages when delete attempt

My computer has dowloaded/ installed several programs "on
its own" (such as "my way" on IE). I cannot delete these
files - I get an error saying that "Error deleting file or
folder - access denied - make sure disk is not full, write
protected or currently in use." (No other programs are
running except explorer when I try to do this). I've
tried 'cutting and pasting' the files but get an error
that "cannot remove folder: The directory is empty." I've
tried by-passing the recycle bin (by changing its
properties) and even tried changing the properties of the
problematic program files from read only (as one post
thought this might help). Nothing has helped - I cannot
get rid of these programs that I never wanted in the first
place. Does anyone know of some way that I can truly
delete them?

Try hitting ctrl + alt + del and then click the processes
tab. Make sure nothing to do with your "new programmes"
is running in there then try to get rid of them. If not
i've managed to get rid of stubborn programmes by
emptying them from the inside slowly one at a time.
