Error messages appear on startup.

Frank Martin

I have Windows XPpro with SP3.

Suddenly two error messages have appeared on startup.

FIRST:
A box titled "jre-6u11-windows-i586-p-iftw.exe - application
error" and the details within the box are:
"The exception Guard Page Exception
A page of memory that maks the end of a data structure, such
as a stack or an array, has been accessed. (0x800000001)
occurred in the application at location 0x02269d40". Click
OK to terminate the program"

Pressing OK ends this message, but produces another:

SECOND:
Box title: "jucheck.exe - application error."
Box contents: "The instruction at "0x02339d40" referrenced
memory at "0x03acfffc", The memory could not be "read"",
Click OK to terminate the program.
Pressing OK ends this message, then all is as normal.

Please help, Frank

PS: Is there any way to cut and paste the messages in these
boxes, because typing them out produces errors?

Both applications have something to do with Java ?
That looks suspicious. Jucheck is some kind of thing
that checks for Java updates, as near as I could find
in a search.

Have you recently installed Java ? Or updated it ?

There's a very strong possibility that a hijackware infection is causing the
behavior.

1. See if you can download/run the MSRT manually:
http://www.microsoft.com/security/malwareremove/default.mspx

2. Run this online scan (in safe mode w/networking, if need be):
http://onecare.live.com/site/en-us/center/howsafe.htm

3. Run additional checks for hijackware, including posting your hijackthis
log to an appropriate forum.

When all else fails, HijackThis v2.0.2
(http://aumha.org/downloads/hijackthis.exe) is the preferred tool to use (in
conjuction with some other utilities). HijackThis will NOT fix anything on
its own, but it will help you to both identify and remove any
hijackware/spyware with assistance from an expert. **Post your log to

http://forums.spybot.info/forumdisplay.php?f=22,
http://aumha.net/viewforum.php?f=30, or another appropriate forum for review
by an expert in such matters, not here.**

If the procedures look too complex - and there is no shame in admitting this
isn't your cup of tea - take the machine to a local, reputable and
independent (i.e., not BigBoxStoreUSA) computer repair shop.
