Error message

need assistance with the following:
tried to access internet explorer 6.0, but cannot due to
an error message stating "the page cannot be displayed"
at the top it says "cannot find server." hitting refresh
does not work. at the bottom it says "cannot find server
or DNS error." we have Comcast Digital Cable installed
and are working through a network with another computer
that has Windows XP. the computer with a problem is
Windows 2000
