Error message

When I attempt to update my virus signature files on the
Mcafee website I get the following error: "Error message:
Internet Explorer has encountered a problem and needs to
close". My computer is having issues and I am going to
replace it soon. However, I want to try to make it last a
bit longer. I have tried differant IE configurations per
Mcafee and the Microsoft Knowledge Base but no good..Thanks
 
Using the 'pure' IE browser, not the AOL browser, go to Windows Update and
install Q818529 (at least). Your anti-virus application should be disabled
the entire time.
