I just bought a computer running Windows XP and I keep
getting the error message 'NT On-Access Scanner service
has encountered a problem and needs to close' when I log
on. Does anyone know the cause and how I can eliminate
the message?

Not a standard Windows service. This is something added by third party
software. Antivirus program perhaps?
