Hi Guys,
Every now and then I get this error message and I don't know why:

Windows host process (Rundll32) has stopped working.
A problem caused the program to stop working correctly.
Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available

does anyone know why.

thanks in advance.

Hi,

That's sort of a generic error. Rundll32.exe is a system process that loads
library files (.dll's) when called for by another program. The error is
telling you that some program tried to have a library file loaded that was
either missing, corrupt, or the wrong version. It may be a system library
file, or it may be one that was added by a program installation. The problem
is: What program made the call?

It may help to identify where the call came from. Download and run process
explorer as it may help you in isolating the thread that was involved:

You might also check the system and application logs in the Event Viewer to
see if they indicate what file was being loaded or module was in use at the
time of the error. The name of the file may lead back to the program that
was in use.

Thanks Rick,
I downloaded the Process explorer and will look out for the message again
and try to trace it to the program.

Anyone,

I know that sometimes mysql control center takes a while (15 seconds+) to
complete some operations. Why does Vista not just leave it to the person to
deal with hung programs.

Once the message appears, it IS GOING to shut down the program whether you
like it or not.

Is there a way to lengthen or circumvent Windows Vista from timing out when
an application takes longer than the programmers of Vista decided to allow?
