Can someone tell me what problem this error may indicate? Upon start up this
appears on the screen: "O S load in progress. Deck 1/0 error. Replace the
disk, and then press any key." The message repeats down the screen and
Windows doesn't load. What disk is being referred to? Thanks for your help.

It means there is a Disk or Floppy in the Floppy Drive/CD ROM you need to
take it out from the Drive and then press any Key to start the system and
system start read the Hard Drive to log you in.
HTH.

This is my friend's computer. There wasn't a disc in the floppy drive or cd
rom. I tried putting a floppy in and then out and got a new message. "Non
system disk or disk error. Replace and strike any key when ready." It is a
pretty old computer and now she tells me it is running Windows 98. Yikes!
Maybe something died.

Well I will tell Her to check the Data Cable from and To the Motherboard may
be something loose and also dust and loose RAM Sticks.
HTH.

Thanks, Nass.

Checking those things is good to do, but Joy's friend should also be
prepared to find out that the hard drive has died. It's likely.

Thanks, Ken. My friend mentioned that her out-of-state son warned her it
might be going when he was visiting. I am sure she will enjoy her new
computer. It is long overdue!
