I turned my computer on this morning, and I got this message:

"A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent
damage to your computer.

If this is the first time you've seen this stop error screen, restart
your computer. If this screen appears again, follow these steps:

Disable or uninstall any anti-virus, disk defragmentation or backup
utilities. Check your hard drive configuration, and check for any
updated drivers. Run CHKDSK /F to check for hard drive corruption, and
then restart your computer.

Technical information:

***STOP: 0x00000024 (0x00190203, 0x8674c848, 0xc0000102, 0x00000000)"

It wont let me do anything, this screen just stays. I've tried
restarting it, but have no idea how to do any of the other stuff
without going through windows.

HELP! Anyone, please

Since your system won't boot into Windows, the only way you're
going to be able to run chkdsk on that computer is through the
Recovery Console. To do that, you're going to need your XP
installation CD. Hopefully, your system came with one.

The first thing you have to do is configure your computer to
boot from the CD drive. For that, you need to get into the
system's Setup program and make the CD drive the primary boot
device. Consult the manual that came with your computer or
check the manufacturer's web site to see how that's done. Most
systems display a message on the screen when you first start
them indicating what key to hit to enter Setup.

Next, put the XP installation CD in the drive and start the
computer. Look for a message asking you to press any key to
boot from the CD. Hit a key and you should see a blue screen
which will eventually bring you to "Welcome to Setup."

Once you see the "Welcome to Setup" screen, hit the R key to
enter the Recovery Console. At the next screen, enter the
number for your Windows installation. It will probably be 1.
Enter the Administrator password. If you did not assign a
password to the Administrator account, leave it blank and hit
the enter key.

Assuming that XP is installed on your C drive, you should now
be at a C:\WINDOWS prompt. Enter CHKDSK /R. Don't be concerned
if it seems like CHKDSK is taking a long time to complete.
That's normal. Once it is finished, type EXIT at the prompt to
restart your computer. You can take the installation CD out of
the drive as well.

If after running CHKDSK, your computer will still not boot into
Windows, you might want to check the web site of the company
that made your hard drive and see if they have a utility you
can download that checks the drive for errors.

If after performing these tests on your hard drive Windows
still won't start, you may need to reinstall Windows and/or
replace your hard drive.

Finally, if any of this information sounds complicated or
confusing, now's the time to turn to a professional for help.
