Error message

Hi, i'm trying to install a program called fax by modem and this required me
to add fax services in the add-remove pograms components.
When i click on the add or remove windows components i recieve this error
message "setup was unable to load the master file information", the
application could not be intialized.
What is cauing this and how can i resolve this problem ?
If anyone has an idea i am most grateful.
