error message

help help, i turn on my comp and i get the message
\windows\system32\config\system. it wont let me do anything says it need
windows xp cd and to press r on screen to repair but i cant do anything with
it. i have reloaded another lot of xp just to keep going. i have all files
etc still on comp on new system. my screen res has changed and there seems to
be a lot of other bits wrong anyone help me?

I'd suggest following the advice given. Assuming your computer is set to
boot from the cd/dvd drive just put your Windows XP cd in the drive and
restart your machine. You will be prompted and where it asks you to press r
(for repair) you just do that.
