Error Message when trying to install XP Pro OEM

I have had a major system crash and cannot load XP in safe
mode or rollback to previous stable etc.....
I am trying to reinstall XP Pro, but keep getting the
following error message that appears when setup is trying
to load the install files:-

File setupdd.sys cannot be loaded
The error code is 4.

I have tried taking original Hard-drives out and starting
from scratch with a newly formatted harddrive, and I still
get the same error message..

Also tried a friends copy to see if it was a corrupt file
on the CD... no joy

I can load Win98se with no probs, but again get the same
error when trying to upgrade, from said friends CD as mine
is OEM addition

Please can anyone help

If anyone has the same prob as this, found out it was
memory problem, I have 1G of memory and it didn't like it
and this is what caused the error message, after leaving
just 512Mb and tried again installed fine then readded the
other 512Mb and hey presto it's all working again!!!

I had the same problem and after dealing wiht it for 6 days now this site
is a Godsend, thank you soooo much !!!! pulled one mem chip out and
its going, thanks again
