Error message when sending email with Microsoft Outlook

I am using Microsoft Outlook 2000. I keep getting an error message "The
TCP/IP connection was unexpectedly terminated by the server. Error Number:
0x800cc0f.

Does anyone know how to correct this? I have tried everything I can find
including restoring firewall rules with Norton. It seems I can receive mail
but not send it.

Any idea when this problem started? Have you checked which outgoing mail
server you're using? Some older versions of Norton changed it.

I was using Incredimail and everything was working fine. I also have Norton
2005. I decided to switch to Microsoft Outlook and that's when the problem
started. My outgoing email is the same as what is was with Incredimail.

The 0x800cc0f error is often caused by scanning mail with an antivirus
problem and Norton is one of the worst. Temporarily uninstall Norton and
see if that affects the problem.

Fantastic! I was having the same problem - I could check my POP mail with
mail2web.com, but not Outlook. Disabling Norton worked a treat.
Is there a way of setting up Norton so I can check email without disabling
Norton?

I suspect there's an option somewhere "scan email" that you can turn
off......
