Error Message When Saving a File

When I save a specific Excel spreadsheet, I receive a pop-up message stating:
"The file 'filename.xls' may have een changed by another user since you have
last saved it. In that case, what do you want to do?' The options to choose
from are to Save a Copy or to Overwrite changes. I'm not sure why I'm
receving this message - can someone tell me why, please?!
