Error message when opening web page

Over the past 8 weeks while browsing primarily news sites
I have been getting a pop-up window with the error
message "Internet Explorer cannot open the Internet web
site...operation aborted" when I click okay the page
goes to "Page cannot be displayed". This error occurs
at seemingly random times, about 5-10 times per hour.
I thought it was related to the Google "pop-up blocker"
recenty installed so I uninstalled it but the problem
continued.
I've searched through IE "tools/internet options" for a
clue to the problem again without success.
Is anyone else receiving this message?? How can I solve
the problem? I'm using IE 6.0, XP Home Edition, Motorola
cable modem, Dell 8100/1.3Mz, 384mb RAM.
Thanks.

I am having the same kind of problems. Last night when trying to forward many messages in hotmail the error came up that the web page contained errors. I could read it but could not forward it. I am using Windows XP Home Edition also and a new computer. Compaq S5200 with 120 gb hard drive, 2.7ghz. 512 mg memory. This has been a constant problem with web pages since my purchase on Nov. 5/03. The error lists various numbers which I did not copy down.
