Error message when installing sp1a

Error Message: "Service Pack 1 Setup cannot update a
checked (debug) system with a free (retail) version of
Service Pack 1, or vice versa." What is the problem and how
can I fix it?

You are running the wrong version of Windows XP. You installed the
debugging version instead of the retail version. Updates are only for the
retail version.
