Error message when clicking on links and extra pop up html window.

I have vista. And now when I click on links in my emails I keep getting a
error message stating that it cant open the site and it aborts the task then
I get a second window it says HTML area and it just keeps trying to load.
Then the second page the link shows up there. IT is very frustrating. I have
looked through alot of the errors links in the help area and have tried alot
of things. I still cant fix it. Any suggestions?

Make sure Internet Explorer has all its defaults:
Open the Default Programs applet, which you can access either from
the Start menu or via the Control Panel, then click the first item:
"Set your default programs."
After a few seconds, a list of programs comes up. Click on "Internet
Explorer". If it doesn't respond with "This program has all its defaults"
then fix it by clicking on the option indicated by the first green arrow.
