error message upon opening IE

I am getting the error message "The instruction at
0x0254a95e referenced memory at 0x202c738d. The memory
could not be read. Click on OK to terminate the program",
when I double-click the IE icon on my desktop. I've tried
reinstalling IE6, but to no avail.

Any suggestions?
