/Error message, 'Scan,' How to remove it

MapleE.

Hi:
After a failure of installation of my Printer,
I started getting the following message upon opening the WindowsXP
-----------
"Scan
The feature you are trying to use is on a
CD-ROM or other removable disk that is not
available.
Insert the 'Scan' disk and click OK."
-------------------------------------------
This computer HP was already 'pre-installed,'
then I have no physical CD.

How to get rid of this 'warning/error' message
upon opening and closing the WindowsXP?

Thanks for your help in advance.

You don't say what printer you were trying to install.
If it was a "officejet" type that is an all-in-1 gadget
with printer/scanner/fax etc, it may be referring to the
scan portion of the software for that device. I have
seen a similar issue recently with office 2000 when
I put it back on a machine - when a limited user would
log back on, they got the same message. I think what
I had wrong was a "first use" thing on the office shortcut
bar. Anyway, the answer was to set them to admin
rights, run office for the first time so it could install what
it wanted then set them back to normal. You may have
run into that "feature" also.

Hi:
The printer is HP Photosmart 3310.

It was SO hard to install this printer's software, even sometimes
it didn't recognize 'Printer/hardware,' then I had NO choice but
'uninstall.'

However, after having posted, 'Error message' went away on its
own that is VERY good news for me.

I still want to get this printer installed, the best I can.
Yesterday, I chatted 'hp tech..' but I still not able to install.
Even I spent whole afternoon, 'install' and 'uninstall' repeated
many times.

Any good solution on this problem?

Thanks,
