Trying to install Autodesk DWF Writer and keep getting the following error
message:

Failed to read registry value DriverCachePath

Any ideas how to fix this? Thanks much.

Hi CT,

Perhaps Autodesk DWF Writer installation is trying to read the following
registry value:

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Setup]

"DriverCachePath"

Make sure that "Administrators" and SYSTEM group have Full control over the
registry key. Normal users should have "Read" access.

For product specific questions, you may contact Autodesk support team for
further help.

Hi Ramesh,

Thank you for the reply. I'm the only user of this computer, so can you tell
me how to verify that I currently setup to allow Full control over the
registry key? Thanks much.

Hi Ramesh,

I checked my registry and all of the permissions are set correctly. However,
there is no listing for "DriverCachePath" in
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Setup]

How do I install that key? Thanks.

Hi CT,

DriverCachePath is actually a value, located in that branch. You can see
that value in the right-pane.

Hi Ramesh,

You misunderstood me. The DriverCachePath value is missing-there is no such
value listed anywhere in my registry and that's probably why I'm getting the
error message when trying to install the program. So what do I need to do to
get that value reinstalled-Windows repair, a complete reinstall of Windows
XP, or what? Thanks Ramesh.

CT,

See if creating a REG_EXPAND_SZ value named "DriverCachePath" and setting
the following data helps:

%SystemRoot%\Driver Cache

Apart from that I don't have any idea why the error occurs.
