error message - pscND106 is not working properly and shut down

I have a Canon Powershot camera and tried to load the software, Zoombrowser
EX, onto my laptop only to find out it's not compatible with Vista. I then
uninstalled the program and installed another that is compatible but keep
getting the error message "pscND106 was not working properly and was shut
down" every time I plug my camera in. I got this message before I installed
the new software and my camera works with this software on my desktop machine
so it's not a compatibility issue with the new software.

Please help.

How do I do a Restore in Vista? Can I Restore to a date before the
installation without setting it back to the original defaults and what will
happen to files created since then? I've already uninstalled the software
and installed Picasa which works with Vista. Picasa recognizes the camera but
when the camera window opens there are no programs in the list to associate
the camera with.

Thanks for your help.

I have a Canon PowerShot SDS 870IS and the EX software from
www.canon.com is fully compatible with Vista.
Also our canon printers have EX that is compatible with Vista. Have you
checked the canon web site for updated EX software for your camera?

Of course I checked Canon's site ;-) I have a Powershot A20, circa 2001 (I
know, I should just buy a new Camera but it takes good pictures). Canon
states that the Zoombrowser software that's compatible with my camera is not
compatible with Vista and that they have no plans to update it. Honestly,
I've never been happy with the Zoombrowser software. I've had trouble
loading it on every computer I've had and even when installed it's been buggy.

Thanks

You've told us that you head a very successful professional marketing
company Francis. How come you use such a low-ball low-priced consumer
digital camera? Any "professional" I've ever met doesn't use consumer toys
like that in a "professional" marketing business. What sort of "marketing"
do you do Francis?

Cheers.

Yeah, that is a nice camera! :)
Restoring to just before you tried to install the EX will not delete any
docs you've created but will take out any programs/updates that you
installed after you tried to install the EX up to and including right now.
So it shouldn't be a problem at all.
Just restore to just before you installed the EX and you should be good
to go!

Oh nostop...you're a real mental case aren't you? I have half dozen
cameras that are my personal property.
The Canon SD870 IS is a very nice point-and-shot camera with an 8 mega
pixels CCD and a wide angle lens (28mm) which are rather limited in
available from all the camera manufacturers.
Most p&s digital lens start at 35-37mm. So this one is small, wide angle
and good mega pixels. Easy to carry around when traveling.
When we need to do pro shots for the biz we have a list of specialty
professional fotogs that we've been dealing with for years. Although not
to many still do "wet work". Most now do digital.
Got it?
