error message problem

Sometimes when I get an error message it only flashes on
the screen briefly. Needless to say this is disconcerting
as I can't read it. Trying to use a screen capture program
is a hit or miss proposition with my old reflexes. Anyone
have an idea why this is happening and how to cure it?

Actually, it's not always even an error message. Sometime
it's when I open a program that's not stated specifically
as being made for XP but does say it will work with NT.
That's what happened this morning. The program is Internet
Explorer Autosave Viewer. The brief glimpse of it that I
do get looks like a DOS window in the fact that it's
black, but the information I am seeking is displayed, just
not long enough for me to read it all.

I'm not familiar with that particular program, but it sounds like
spyware. Scan for and remove malware with Spybot S&D and/or Ad-aware.
Be sure you're running a current, updated av program. See if that takes
care of the problem for you.

Use a digital camera, or better still a camcorder, to catch it. Borrow one,
if you have to. Just a suggestion.

I misstated the name of the program. It's IE Autocomplete
Viewer. Througly checked out with the larest virus def. and
the program TDS-3 for trojans. I suspect a flaw in the
program itself. It appears, autoscrolls, and disappears in
the space of about .5 seconds. Roxio's GoBack options
screen behaved the same way when I booted my system. Found
the answer to that one on Symantec's website.
