error message on startup

I get an error message stating that the following file was
unable to run:
\windows\system32\wdm.dll

Is there a way to repair this file without doing a full re-
install? Tried disc defrag and it ran into problems with
this file and it was unable to correct the problem.

Any help would be appreciated!

This isn't part of Windows installation , it's been added when yo
installed another piece of hardware - possibly a modem?, or less likel
a soundcard. Are any problems showing up in Device Manager? Chec
under the driver details for your modem anyway & see if WDM.DLL i
listed (though if it isn't loading it won't be, but just a thought
