error message on start up

After installing and running MS Antispyware I cleaned my
computer and then rebooted. Each time I restart the
computer I get the message "gcas Serv.exe - unable to
locate component. This application has failed to start
because MSVBVM60.DLL was not found. Re-installing this
application may fix this problem." I do not know what
this component is or what I need to re-install.

I have checked most of the websites I normally use and
different programs on my computer and have not found a
problem yet....

Any suggestions?? Thanks

You need to re-install the MS Anti-spyware software. gcasServ.exe is part
of that software.

I have similar messages. Clearly our computers must be
looking for formerly infected files that are now gone
because we cleaned them. I too would like to know how to
stop the couple of errors I am getting at startup... mine
too do not seem to be affecting anything.

One way to stop these harmless startup messages--I believe you have the
right idea about the reason for them--is to run MSCONFIG, and uncheck the
relevant items on the startup tab. You will then need to check an
additional box, perhaps on the next startup, to tell MSCONFIG not to remind
you at each startup that you have disabled items.

The only downside of this method is that it's kind of a one-time
process--i.e. if you need to use MSCONFIG at some later time to disable
other items, or to disable things on a temporary basis, and then re-enable
them--you'll have to remember and track the items you are now disabling by
hand somehow.
