Error message: Insert(Volume Serial Number:)

My computer had Windows XP and a hard drive had 2
Partitions: Drive "C" Boot & System Partition. Drive "D"
Data Partition.
When Windows XP crashed. I did a new installation
Windows XP over Drive "C". I Deleted "C" patition (during
installation), formated, then Installed a new WinXP
(cause Old WinXP gave me lots of problems). But I DID NOT
touch "D" data Partition.
After I installed WinXP, I couldn't access "D" drive
(partition). Error message: D:\is not accessible.
The wrong diskette is in the drive.
Insert(Volume Serial Number:) into drive D:\

Someone told me to take ownership of drive "D". But I
couldn't, because the properties of its drive has no
Security button for me to get in.
The Properties of the "D" drive has 3 tabs: Gerneral,
Tools, Hardware. No Security or Advandced buttons.
under Gerneral Tab, Type: Local disk File system: RAW
used space, Free space and Capacity: 0 Bytes.
If anyone has the same problem or Know a way to
access to this drive? Please help!

Much appreciate and Thank You....

Jack

Your File System of your D Drive is RAW, that may be the problem it cannot
access the files. Rightclick and go to Properties, click the Hardware tab and
then click Troubleshoot. Follow the questions/prompts.

D Drive is a second partition of the same hard drive. So
the troubleshooting of the Hardware tab unable to see any
problems of the Hard drive.
After I Installed PartitionMagic 8. I could see File
System of D Drive is NTFS. So I tried to merge D Drive as
a folder to C Drive(NTFS also). No luck, error message:
Source partition NTFS(D Drive)version number:0.0
Target partition NTFS(C Drive)version number:3.1
Both NTFS partitions being merged must be the same
version number.

Thanks

Jack
