Error Message: C:\WINDOWS\System32\MSVFW32.DLL

I keep getting the following error message:

"The application or DLL C:\WINDOWS\System32\MSVFW32.DLL is
not a valid Windows image. Please check this against your
installation diskette."

It seems to happen in multimedia-based applications. For
example, I just got an iPod supporting windows, and this
is the message I get when trying to launch MusicMatch.
The error message comes up and the launch terminates. The
same thing happens when trying to install and run Windows
MediaPlayer 9; the error terminates the installation.

Any suggestions would be very, very welcome.

Hi,

This seems to be a part of Logitech (cam/mouse/keyboard). Start your
troubleshooting from there and good luck!

Your problem may be that the file in question is corrupted. See MSKB article
#139806 if you wish. The thing to do now is to run SCANNOW. It will replace
any corrupted filed that it finds, and you do not have to do any work.

SCANNOW:

"The following assumes you have an actual XP CD as opposed to a restore CD
or restore partition supplied by your PC manufacturer.

Go to Start, type sfc /scannow in the run box and press enter. Note, there
is a space between sfc and the forward slash. You will be asked for your XP
CD. Be aware, upon inserting the CD the XP setup screen may appear, this is
not a part of sfc /scannow, rather it is being invoked by autorun. Simply
minimize the screen and allow sfc to continue."
