Error Message "0x8007007a" When Using Task Scheduler

G

Guest

Similar to a previous thread placed on 11/02/04, I have recently come across
this problem and the thread reply from Pegasus MVP did not really help.

Ok I installed SP2 on XP Prof and recently purchased a Hauppauge WinTV USB2
unit. It works ok but I cannot use the Scheduler as it comes up with the
above error message. When I emailed Hauppauge support they asked whether
Windows Scheduler was working and to test it, which I did and no it doesn't
work. Hence I am now asking for help from MSoft.

I tried all the searches for support etc and have tried a few things such as
making sure my account is the administrator and password is entered for the
Task Scheduler but still the same problem/ conflict with user etc

Anybody any suggestions?

8007 means the other 4 numbers is a Windows error code (if it's anything other than 8007nnnn then it's component specific error and can only be looked up if the author of that component has published a list of error codes for that component).

Type in a command prompt

net helpmsg 122 [0x7a in decimal - use Calc to convert hex to decimal]

Which says
C:\Documents and Settings\David Candy>net helpmsg 122

The data area passed to a system call is too small.

Ahh seen that error before. Why doidn't you include the full text of the error. Type the error in help.

I'm not currently at my Home PC and therefore cannot type in the details at
the command promt. However what exactly are you suggesting? I'm not a
programmer so where does one find the command prompt? what will "net helpmsg
122" actually do to assist me? Sorry but I didn't really understand. You need
to take me through it slooooowly!

Just type the number in Help and help will tell you the fix. You must be online.

I am assuming you mean type in the error code not net "elpmsg 122"?? anyway
when I type in x8007007a into help (which I tried before read my original
post) the following URL page should help but doesn't,see

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;246865

This page only deals with Explorer 5 NOT SP2 updates as when you go into the
registry using regedit the actual Registry tree you need to edit doesn't even
exist in SP2 and therefore cannot edit it. Back to square one!
please readmy original post before wasting my time and provide me with
sensible answers to a frustrating problem. Google hardly lists any fixes to
this problem and many people have come across it. Why Microsoft have not
posted a more up to date solution I do not know. Please someone (MVP) send
me a
solution!!

regards

If you just do what I f#ckin well say you'll fix it.
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;264522&FR=1&PA=1&SD=HSCH

You have configured your help wrongly.

So moron, you deliberately withhold the error message, can't search, and want to blame me for your incompetence.
CAUSE
This behaviour occurs because the buffer that stores the account information for all scheduled tasks is limited; the buffer puts a limit on the number of jobs that you can schedule with user credentials. There is no limit on the number of jobs that you can create without user credentials.
RESOLUTION
To work around this behaviour, stop and start the task scheduler service, wait for 10 to 15 minutes, and then schedule jobs.

There is a scavenger tool in task scheduler that runs 10 minutes after the service is started. This tool frees the memory that is still being used by deleted or scheduled jobs.
