error message 0x80070003

Help - whenever I try to backup my files onto an external hard drive using
backup and restore centre in Vista, I get the message 'The system cannot find
the path specified (0x80070003)'. All data backed up fine the first time I
used the drive, but nothing will back up now..... any suggestions???

Log onto Microsofts support site and do a search for articles relating to
the generated error message.
