Error Message 000D

On starting Windows XP 2d I am now getting the following message on startup
Error at Startup Message 000D.

Anyone have a clue? Why have error messages that make no sense? That is a
rhetorical question aimed at the genusis at Microsoft.

I doubt that "the genusis at Microsoft" (sic) will read your comment
since this is a public Usenet newsgroup hosted on MS servers, not an
avenue to Microsoft.

You have not given us enough information to get focused help. Some of
the people reading your post may be geniuses (to which I stake no
claim), but none of them are mind readers.

things worked and the time they didn't?

The Second Question of Windows Troubleshooting: what is the
malware/virus status of the machine? If you think it is clean, what
programs (and versions) did you use to determine this?

In addition, you might reboot your system, and then immediately after the
error is thrown, check the event logs to see what might have thrown it.
While the dialog box is displayed, you might also look in the task manager to
see what process or application owns it.

I did say I didn't know what the error message means - because *you*
didn't give enough information to get the answer. Either go to the link
