error mess.not genuine

i bought this pc from a friend,i am getting a message that microsoft can no
longer
give me updates,because i am using a pirated copy of windows,i called
microsoft and went through the whole process of giving the key codes and was
told that my copy of windows IS genuine.so now what do i do? how can i fix
the problem,do i have to buy another copy of windows?microsoft keeps sending
me to websites that are not helping me
 
search the winxp ng's for posts on MS Genuine Advantage tool problems, there
are some solutions offered and a link to a specific MS ng
