Error log file anywhere?

I booted this morning, and failed to get an internet connection.
I rebooted without turning off my External HDD E:\

When XP rebooted it found errors on the E:\drive
("removing invalid long file name....etc)

It finished and continued rebooting
everything is fine.

Is there a log file that would have that
corrected file info listed for me to have a bo-peep?

Please explain what you mean by your comment. That there are no entries
there or that there are no entries relating to your problem?

If Event Viewer has been disabled you can correct this by selecting
Start, Control Panel, System, Advanced, Error Reporting and you will see
options to enable or disable the service.
