Error: Local Device Name In Use

I've been getting error messages across my test network. There are three XP
machines connected to a 2003 Server. After being logged in for a while all
three machines experience problems with accessing network drives. Sometimes
they report Error: Local Device Name Already In Use, Connection not
restored. Sometimes My Computer/Explorer just lock up (apparently while
trying to browse those drives). Other network operations like ping or remote
desktop work fine at periosd when the network drives are unresponsive and
whenever network drives are not mapped, explorer experiences no problems.

The following article:
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;810401&Product=winxp
is the closest I could come to locating a description of this error in the
knowledge base, but I'm not sure if it applies. Any thoughts?
