"Error loading Install.wim" During 64 bit set up.

I successfully installed Vista Premium Home 64 bit from my retail version of
Vista 64 bit OS on one HD, an ATA 100. However I was unhappy with the drive
performance and returned it to the store. I also had an external DVD ROM
connected to a USB port. This installation process was incredibly long. Mus
have taken about 4 hours just for vista to run the entire installation. When
I did get vista loaded it was slow as molasses on my brand new Intel board
with a q6600 and 8 gigs of RAM. SO I figured it must be my drive speed.

So for this next install attempt I used an internal DVD ROM and a SATA drive
for the OS, However I have not even gotten as far as selecting the target
drive for the installation. Right agfter it asked me for the product key I
get an error saying it can't find the Install.wim file on the DVD ROM.

Obviously it is there. I have followed a suggestion to clean the (brand new
2 day old ) disc, to no avail.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Richard.

Interesting note. In windows the drive shows up as letter E. But the
installation is looking for letter G: Could this be what the confusion is?
That Vista install is being confused by the drive location due to the
combination of SATA and IDE drives?
