Error in sending e-mails with large attachment

I changed my operating system from windows 98 to windows XP. With my new OS i cannot send anymore e-mails with attachments bigger that 80KB. I get the following error message "server response: 554 transaction failed, client timeout/disconnect while receiving mail message". i've called up my isp and was told that it is not their service who is malfunctioning because i get to send and receive e-mails. they said it is windows xp who might be having problems

There are absolutely no limits in XP on attachment sizes in emails. XP
also has nothing to do with email other than providing the underlying
operating system. Email needs client software, email protocols, etc.
all provided by the email client.

Your ISP help center is just trying to get you off the phone as quickly
as possible (their objective).

You don't give enough information to help.
- what email client
- what ISP
- did it ever work with XP?
- what recent changes?
- dial up or broadband?
- POP3 or IMAP?
- your error message refers to "client timeout while receiving message"
yet you are talking about sending mail. Are you sure this

Hope this is useful to you. Let us know.
