Error in Database Results Wizard

G

Guest

First off, I am running Windows 2000 Pro SP4, with IIS 5.0 and the latest
FP2002 server extensions and am working in FP2003.

I have successfully created an asp form that sends the results of the form
fields into an access database. The problem I am having is creating an asp
query form that will allow me to view the results of that existing database.

I should also note that there are pages on PC that were created by another
individual that were previously working on the PC that formerly housed
several working database and asp forms accessing these databases. Any of
them that query access dababase data are not working, even though the folder
structure has been restored on the new PC. Not sure if there is something
configured incorrectly in server extensions or IIS.

Also, when tried to create a form that queried database, all it wanted to do
was bring up the dialog boxes to send to a database. How can I set up the
results to where they only show me fields I want to see? I want to allow
users to select a beginning and ending date range. Please help!

P.S. - I have already read through EVERY posting on this forum and found any
related postings to be either not answered or not answered completely (left
knowledge to be assumed). Need detailed help please!

How was the folder structure restored on the new PC? Have you applied all
the Service Packs for FrontPage 2003?

Kathleen,

The hard drive that crashed was attached as a slave to the replacement PC.
The data from the Intetpub directorywas then copied from the problematic hard
drive to a folder on the new computer's C drive. The data from the wwwroot
directory was then "copied" over from this backup folder to the www root
directory, but only for those files that were not generic to the IIS install.

I have all the current service packs for Front Page 2003 running on my PC,
but FrontPage is not installed on the PC that I am running as a web server.
Hope this answers your question.

IIS under Windows 2000 Pro and Windows XP Pro do not support remote authoring, FP must be installed
on the actually PC.

Thomas,

Could you please elaborate on how this impacts the ability to view the
results on the web server. I actually access this web share through our
network as a network share and through FrontPage. Are you saying that
FrontPage must be installed on the server for pages written in FronPage 2003
to view correctly, asp specifically?

It should be noted that the PC that was previously running the pages that
worked DID in fact have FrontPage loaded on it.

When you say server, are you talking about IIS under Windows 2000 Server and/or Windows 2003 Server
which is different from working with IIS under Windows 2000 Pro and/or Windows XP Pro.

I am saying the you can not open a FP server-based site on a Windows 2000 Pro or Windows XP Pro PC
from another PC running any version of FP.

Thomas,

Please parden my ignorance, as I am very new to running IIS and dealing with
its configuration, as well as server extensions. When you say can't open,
are you saying can't open in FP or can't LAUNCH the site? I AM able to do
both.

Most of the site is basic html pages, not asp. Both types of pages launch
fine, though. This is just a home-grown internal knowledgebase that I have
created and only users within our network can access it.

Are you, on the other hand, trying to say that the method with which this
data was restored is part of why I am having these issues, including issues
with pages that previously worked? If nothing else, are you aware of a good
resource in terms of documentaiton/books that provide detailed information on
the proper configuration of using a PC as web server in the manner I have
described? I do understand that this will not do everything that a true
server would and I am exploring that option, but have limited resources to
work with. Your response is appreciated.

Technically you are not support to be able to open the site in FP or publish under IIS (2000/XP Pro)
from a remote computer
