error in 2003 database converter

(from 97-2003) I have tried to convert several MS access databases using the
access 2003 converter but get a number of error messages while converting
them, once converted on running forms from the database error messages
"missing dll" are got for every action.

Can anyone shed any light on why this may be?

Does the database compile cleanly in Access 97? If it doesn't, then there's
little hope of it converting cleanly. (And note that just because it runs
without errors does NOT imply that it will compile)
