Hi

I have a file located on a network that has various macro's and Formula's in
it.

The File has been working fine for the last 3 months.

Suddenly, it has been re-named from 'Daily.xls' to 'Daily.xls~RF1a3b51f.TMP'

Has anyone come across this before, and what generally causes it?

Thanks in advance

Paul

Are you pvtpilot?

copied from a post to him/her:

There have been a few posts about excel creating .tmp files in the same folder
as the workbook file.

I've never seen excel do this by itself. (It may create some .tmp files in your
Temp folder, though.)

I've never seen a good resolution to this, either. I always guessed that it was
another program "helping out"--maybe your antivirus software.

If you find a solution, please post back.

(if you delete the files, temporarily disable your AV software and play around
in excel, do these files come back?)

HI Dave

No i'm not a 'pvtpilot' (whatever that is) :)

The file in question was open when excel 'apparently' renamed the original
..xls file itself.
There is antivirus software on the network.i'll 'play about' with the file
and
if i find a cause i'll re-post for the newsgroup.

Thanks

Paul

pvtpilot is someone who asked a very similar question to yours--just moments
before posted.

And I hope you find the answer.
