When I try to start IE Explorer, I get a dialog box with
the error message "Internet Explored has encountered and
eror an must shut down"

Supplimental information is as follows:

Error Signature:
AppName: iexolore.exe
ModVer: 5.1.2600.1106

AppVer: 6.0.2800.1106
Offset: 0000214f

ModName ntdll.dll

I've tried downloading updates and reinstalling to no
avail.

Any ideas out there?

Michael,
Lately these "ntdll.dll" problems are caused by a Coolwebsearch trojan.

Note: this type hijack indicates an unpatched machine, that is lacking
in "Defense". Please visit Windows Update to avoid these exploits.

I get the same message, it started a couple of weeks ago. at first it was after viewing a couple of pages but now It will not even start up. Because XP uses IE for everything I can't get into any of my folders, control panel, my computer ect
I tried reloading IE6 but it wont even do that, I think I might have to do a total XP reload but I hoping I could find an answer here first
Thanks

CWShredder worked like a charm. Will heed warnings of
