Error Connecting to Shared Folder

Several Windows 2000 and one XP machine on a peer-to-peer network. The
main Win2K box has a shared folder, called "Installs." Everyone has
access to the folder. On the XP box, when I go through

Start | Run | Browse | My Network Places | Installs

I get the following error message:

"The drive or network connection that the shortcut 'target.lnk' refers
to is unavailable. Make sure that the disk is properly installed or the
network resource is available, and then try again." When I press OK, the
error message goes away, and the computers connect, as expected. How can
I get rid of this error message?

I get this as well; bloody annoying isn't it? I'll be interested in the
cause/solution too.
