error codes

I recently upgraded to XP home from Windows ME, I also purchased a new
printer. The printer is not working--prints jibberish! I get an error code
"Cannot Find Shell.Dll" I cannot delete and reinstall printer or driver. I
also received a message "Cannot find file
C:\documen~1\Al\locals~1\Temp\EpstpMe\setup\setup.exp? Can anyone help??
 
It looks like you bought an Epson printer. Epson products are very picky
about how they are installed. You must follow the instructions to the
letter in order to install it properly. You can not install it by using the
New Hardware Wizard. You must use the installation CD provided by Epson.
Only connect the printer and power it up when directed by the installation
routine or documentation.
